Why Buy a Manufactured or Modular Home? background

Why Buy a Manufactured or Modular Home?

Quality Building Process and Affordability

Manufactured Homes and Modular Homes have a distinct advantage in that they are built in a climate controlled factory. There are no worries, delays, or damage due to weather. The employees who build the homes are well trained and adhere to specific guidelines. Each employee is specialized in one specific step of the building process. Because these manufacturers produce many homes, they are able to buy large amounts of materials at significant savings. Those savings are passed on to the consumer.

HUD Codes and Standards

Single or sectional homes need to be built according to the HUD code. The HUD Code is a series of building standards that include all aspects of a single or sectional Manufactured Home. These include electrical systems, air conditioning, heating, plumbing, structural design, fire safety, energy efficiency, construction, and transporting the home to the site. Third party in-house HUD Inspectors ensure that all of these standards are met every step of the way, from design to construction to assembly. All homes are required to receive a Red Seal. This assures the consumer that the home has met all of the strict HUD inspection requirements.

Modular Codes and Standards

Whether ranch, cape, chalet, or 2 story modular homes need built to the UCC building code. These homes are insulated in the walls and ceiling with a higher R value when compared with manufactured homes. These homes show up 70 to 80 percent complete and require a full foundation or crawl space for support. Most of the time a crane is needed to place these homes. Unlike manufactured homes, these homes require more in depth inspections and a blower door test.

Customizing Your Home

There are many options available when choosing a Manufactured Home. While there are many pre-existing floor plans to choose from, homebuyers today can customize the layout of their new home to fit their lifestyles and budgets. Amenities such as fireplaces, porches, and decks are now available. Because of advancements in the building process, some manufacturers can also produce homes in a variety of architectural designs.

Earth-Friendly and Energy Efficient

Manufactured Homes are Eco-friendly in several different ways, beginning with their construction. Because they are built in a factory, Manufactured Homes can yield up to 90% less waste than a stick built home. Environmental problems such as noise pollution and erosion issues are significantly reduced. Components such as low to zero VOC paint, double flush toilets, low flow faucets, and insulated walls all substantially reduce environmental impact.

When you sit back and consider the options, is there really any reason not to buy a Manufactured Home?
